William Stixrud, Ph.D.

Dr. William R. Stixrud is a clinical neuropsychologist in private practice since 1985 and director of William Stixrud & Associates in Silver Spring, Maryland, a group practice specializing in the evaluation of learning, attention, and social/emotional disorders. He has been an adjunct faculty member at Children’s National Medical Center, in Washington, D.C., since 1986, and he has held appointments in the department of Psychiatry at the George Washington University School of Medicine and the Georgetown University Medical School. He has also served as a consultant to the National Institutes of Health, Divisions of Neuropsychology and Metabolic Disorders. Dr. Stixrud is the author of a book on early development and several articles and book chapters. He has received many awards and academic honors, including graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Washington, membership in Phi Beta Kappa, and awards for leadership in the field of learning disabilities from the Northern Virginia Association for Children with Learning Disabilities and the Siena School. He earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota, was a Predoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Neuropsychology at Tufts New England Medical Center.
