Research on the Transcendental Meditation technique has been conducted at more than 250 independent research institutes in more than 33 countries since 1971. Here is a list of medical schools that have conducted research in the U.S., including the research funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The effects of Transcendental Meditation in older African American women at risk for heart disease (findings presented at the annual meeting of the American College of Cardiology, March 2006).

Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, Los Angeles
(1) A study on the mechanisms of atherosclerosis—the effects of Transcendental Meditation on the sympathetic nervous system and the functioning of the arterial endothelium in African Americans; and (2) The effects of Transcendental Meditation on carotid atherosclerosis (published in the American Heart Association’s Stroke, March 2000).
